Hail To The Redskins!!!

The sports team that I decided to focus on was the Washington Redskins football team. They have a very large fan base. The fan base is not only in the Washington D.C. area, but is also found all around the country. The fans are dedicated to their team and use social media as a way of tracking updates. The different social media platform that I focused on were their Twitter, Facebook and Instagram account. For the different platforms, they had a different style of reaching out.

The first platform I took a look at was their Twitter. Twitter was the platform they used to engage with their fans the most. The first post that I saw on the page was shouting out to all the fans and giving them an opportunity to meet some of the palyers one on one at a restaurant in D.C. Twitter is a platform that makes reaching out and being engaged with the fans a lot easier. With just the click of a button you can respond and have a conversation with a fan.

The Redskins use Facebook as a way to get a good image out to the public. The page seemed to be more focused on getting videos and clips of the team out to the fans incase they were unable to make a game. The page also allows for fans to see the teams season schedule. The Facebook page seems to be more of a page to go to if you are trying to learn more about the team and be updated on their most current games and statuses.

Instagram as you would imagine was all pictures and videos of the team. They had a variety of pictures and captions with their posts though. Some of the pictures were focused on certain players on the team, These posts are a way for fans to get to know their team better. There were also a variety of pictures that had captions on the pictures themselves. The quotes tended to be more on the inspirational side and focused on uplifting the viewers of the page. The final thing I noticed about the page was some of the posts featured players helping the less fortunate. I think that these type of posts show not only fans, but the users of Instagram, that these men are more than just football players. These football players are also humans who care about others.
