Social Media in Todays World
Cyberbullying Is a problem internet users may face many
times throughout their life. Cyberbullying can mean calling people names, harassing
others, threats, and many other things. Some people get confidence behind the
screen that they do not normally have in real life. It can be easier for some people
to say things behind the screen because it’s not face to face contact with
another person. All you have to do is press send and its done with.
The article I have attached is about the growing concern of
social media allowing more bullying to happen in society today. One of the
parents quoted in the article stated that she goes through her daughters phone
on a daily basis to make sure that she is not only making smart decisions
herself, but to also make sure that no one is bullying her daughter. I think it
is good she is monitoring her daughters usage of her phone, but checking it daily
is a bit much in my opinion.
I completely understand this fear some parents have about
their kids being active on social media. The world can be a very scary place
and the internet allows for lots of people to act out of character. Being
strict on your kids and not allowing them to have social media accounts at a
young age can prevent them from being cyber bullied. But, the sad thing is that
anyone can be cyber bullied, it’s not just the youth that it happens to.
