Yes, Twitter is definitely a social networking site, utility and an information network. Twitter is a social platform that gives users the ability to connect with virtually anyone. In addition to connecting with friends and family, Twitter also allows you to connect with politicians, the news, celebrities, and employers. Twitter is all about connectivity and it can be used for entertainment or in the professional world. With this platform we can also be informed from the various news sources and the outside world. Twitter is a way of knowing what is going on at all times and getting information, especially in the news instantly. It allows updates by the minute and sometimes even by the second. Since Twitter is a social media, it can shape our realities. It can do this by accounts posting incorrect information or fake pictures and photo shopped. My personal experience with Facebook started the summer before my Sophomore year of high school. I remember begging my parents to let me get a Facebook all throughout my freshman year, but they never gave in. All the other kids in my class had a Facebook, except me. Looking back now, I see why my parents wanted me to wait to get one. High schoolers sometimes have a tendency to not think before they post. I know that there were a couple of times looking back that I should have been more careful when I was using Facebook, but my immature high school self would not agree with that. When I first started using Facebook it was mostly to connect with my high school class. When I say connect, I mean, sharing photos and talking through the instant messaging on Facebook. My parents had the password to my Facebook account in case they ever wanted to check up and see what I was doing, but I never gave them a reason to need to do that. The only thing that my parents complained about, was when I ...

Ourselves on Social Media Vs. Our Real Life Selves I think that on my various social media platforms I definitely portray myself differently on each site. On Facebook I have lots of family members that are my friends and I try to stay as low-key on there as possible. When I say low-key I mean, not posting a whole lot of pictures, definitely not using bad language, and rarely posting status updates. I also have to be careful of what I post on my Snapchat because my little sisters who look up to me, follow me on there. Before I post a Snapchat on the weekends, I remind myself that my little sisters can see and I would not want their view of my image to change. Even though I am 21 I try to not let my sisters see me partying. On Instagram I have a more relaxed page that I feel like I can post some pictures of me going out and enjoying the weekends at parties with friends, and not have to worry that I will be upsetting any family members. There are less family members that follow me an...

Focus the avatar on your face Having the focus on your face in any profile picture is important, especially on LinkedIn when employers are looking at your profile. Sticking to images that are just of you save employers and other people from confusion. Not everyone that will view your account will know who you are, and that needs to be on the top of your mind when you are picking a profile picture. 2.    Tell your story (LinkdIn) It is very important to have an eye catcher on the front page of your LinkedIn to make employers want to look at the rest of your account. The place on LinkedIn that allows you to write a summary of yourself is crucial in the fact that it allows you to give a quick blurb about who you are and what you are about. Telling your story in 150 characters or less is very important to do on LinkedIn. 3.    Finish the job “Finishing the job” is crucial when you are trying to seal the deal with an employer. The first step is having an ap...
