Thanksgiving Day!

Image
I am so excited for Thanksgiving Break! Tuesday afternoon cannot come fast enough. I am so bummed the Mount is having classes this week though. Most schools I noticed started their Thanksgiving break this past Friday. I feel that only having classes for two days is a waste of time. Lots of students skips these two days of class anyways, so the number of students in class is less than normal. I would have skipped my classes this week, but one of my classes I have on Tuesday is having one of the most important classes of the semester. I would rather be prepared for an upcoming presentation than blow off class to have a couple more days added onto my Thanksgiving break. My plans for Thanksgiving break are pretty laid back, but I am so excited to go home and see my family and friends. I basically have my whole week planned out already! I am going to a happy hour with all my girlfriends from home on Tuesday. I haven’t seen some of these friends in months! It will be great to catc...

Social Media Shaming

In my opinion, public shaming in most cases is a form of cyber bullying. The times that I have seen someone being publically shamed on a social media platform, the different users who are upset, take “shaming” this individual to an unacceptable level. I understand if there are some things that you might not agree with or are even offended by, but there is no reason to call someone nasty names or threaten them over the internet. I understand confronting someone about a situation, but to call them out in front of lots of people and humiliate them, that is just as bad. Lots of times when I see these shaming occurring, I often question what the person shaming is trying to accomplish. Because in my eyes, they are accomplishing nothing, other than making themselves seem like a mean person. Fighting fire with fire,...

Think Twice Before You Post!

Getting caught up in social media is something most users of the internet are guilty, including myself. In the moment, it can be hard to take a step back and realize that whatever is being posted, will be in cyber space forever. At times I think about the various things I am sharing online, while other times I am not as careful as I should be. I think I am careful but not as careful as I should be sometimes. All of my social media accounts are on private. The reason why I make my social media pages private is because I want to monitor who can view my content. I would personally be nervous to not have my accounts on private and allow the whole world to see my life. I think I am protected to a certain extent on my social media platforms. By no means am I completely safe from hackers and crazy people, but I think I am less likely to be targeted by people like that since I do have settings that do not allow them to view my pages unless they are my friend or follower. With ...
